Pretty Little Flowers Granny Square

Pretty Little Flowers Granny Square

I have made this square in a size 4mm hook in the picture below, but I have also tried it in a size 5mm and it looked great, just a little bigger 😊

Terms (US)
ch- Chain
slst- slip stitch
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
picot- ch3, sc in back loop of 3rd loop

ch 4, slst to 1st chain to form a ring

R1- ch3 (counts as 1sr dc stitch) work 15 dc into ring to make 16 in total. Join to top 3rd ring on ch 3.

*fasten off and attach new colour to any st*

R2- ch1, sc in same stitch, ch 2, skip a st, sc in next stitch, ch2, repeat until 8sc and 8 ch 2 spaces. Join to top of 1st sc of round.

Keep color same (like I did) slst into a ch 2 space

R3- in each ch2 space around (ch1, sc, ch1, dcx2, ch1, dcx2,ch1, sc) skip all sc stitches from last round. Join to 1st sc of this row.

Regardless of color change or not, cast off and attach yarn into space between petals, between 2 sc's, *see photo*

R4- ch1, sc in same space, ch 5, sc in next space petals (between 2 sc's), repeat around and join to the 1st sc of the round.

Keep color same (like I did) slst into a ch 5 space

R5- ch1 to start and in each ch5 space (sc,hdc,dcx2,picot,dcx2,hdc,sc) skipping sc from last row, repeat until 8 petals. Join to first sc from this row.

Regardless of color change or not, cast off and attach yarn into picot space at the tip of the petal.

R6- Attach at the tip of picot st.  ch1 and sc in the same st, ch 2, skip 2 st (also skip the picot, so essentially skip the 2 dc from round 5) and dc in the next 4 st, ch2, sc in picot, repeat from *, when finished join to first sc from this row.

Fasten off to change color and then start in any sc.

R7- (ch3,dc, ch2, dcx2),*dc in ch2 space, dc in next 2 st, hdc in next 2 st, sc in ch2 space, skip sc from round 6, sc in ch2 space, hdc in next 2 st, dc in next 2 st and dcx2 in ch 2 space, for corner (dcx2, ch2,dcx2) repeat from *, when finished join to ch3 and fasten off.

Sew in ends and hey presto you are done, all you need to do now is sew in those ends!

Thank you sooo much to anyone who completed my square, this was my absolute first try at writing any pattern and it as everyone on my instagram knows, I love granny squares so it is just a little bit special to me :)

If you have made this up and are sharing it, please share with me so I can see it and like it @raineyscrochet, or share it through #raineysgrannysquares

I am hoping to make lots more granny patterns and hopefully as time goes on I will have enough for a lovely big blanket, so keep an eye out on my instagram for when I am releasing more.
